Arlene Sarte

I am a local girl born and raised on Oahu.  I've lived pretty much all over the island which gives me a unique love and perspective of the various neighborhoods. Some of my fondest memories growing up include picking mangoes at my grandparents' home in Waianae, spending long summers with cousins on the North Shore, going to the beach every weekend, and being the sideline cheerleader at my brother's baseball games. Life seemed a little easier then as our economy was more agriculture based. I remember the burning sugar canes in Ewa Beach, and the black ash as the workers harvested the cane.  I lived on the Westside, and attended a private school in town, so commuted by bus daily. The bus route took me through the different neighborhoods in and around town.  It was a game for me to memorize the different street names on the different routes. I think this may have been my initiation into real estate!

As a young adult attending college I moved into town, and after graduating started my career in Human Resources. I worked in both the profit and non-profit sectors.  What I enjoyed most about Human Resources were the challenges organizations and employees would encounter, then researching the facts, applying policies, procedures, and mandates to come to the best resolution. This skill set was valuable as I transitioned into Real Estate. Human Resources helped me become a better Realtor by realizing the importance of rules, regulations, and laws set forth by government. I understand the significance of documenting, following up, and being accountable. 

After making Honolulu and Kailua my home for more than twenty five years, I was excited to return to the developing West side. My husband and I currently reside in Makakilo. There are many things I enjoy, including collecting pretty rocks, doing volunteer work, eating, and exercising. I'm also on a mission to finding the best chocolate chip cookie recipe!  My life scripture is Psalm 91.
